April 4, 2018

On behalf of the Enlisted Association Army and Air New Mexico National Guard we hope you and your families had a wonderful Easter holiday weekend. As we get closer to our State Joint Annual conference at Buffalo Thunder Hotel and Resort 27-28 April 2018 I want to personally thank our officers, committee members, and other NMNG volunteers of this association for their hard work and long hours in preparation for this conference.

We have a lot of great events happening during the annual conference with the golf scramble, softball tournament, and spouses auxiliary luncheon / scavenger hunt. Spread the word and join us for a fun weekend and meet all of the sponsors / exhibitors who have taken time out of their busy schedules  to support both the Officer and Enlisted Associations.

Visit our website at eanmng.org and register for the conference and become a member of our great enlisted association to continue the fight for education, legislative, professional development, and benefits for our soldiers, airmen, and their families. We have a lot of moving parts as we move into the new year preparing for legislative issues during the sessions in 2019. EANMNG has submitted a bid to EANGUS to host the National Conference in 2021 or 2023 in Albuquerque, NM utilizing the Convention center and surrounding hotels as the venues.

We are gaining traction attracting corporate sponsorship within our local areas to support our efforts to include National sponsorships with ADS Inc., USAA, and Boeing. As your President I want to close with membership and the importance as a nonprofit association to have numbers representing our efforts as we continue to fight locally and nationally. Our association is compiled of a voluntary group of individuals committed to serve the soldiers, airmen, and their families so please take the time to come to our business meeting during the annual conference and see what your association is all about and most of all express your concerns on how we can serve you better.

Very respectfully,

Willy Griego,
EANMNG, President

– National Update, please pass this on to all full-timers and DSGs who are government employees!!! We need their membership and effort to get Tricare Reserve Select passed! H.R. 5121 – regarding TRICARE Reserve Select eligibility: As a result of EANGUS members storming Capitol Hill in February, Representative Kelly (R-MS) and Representative Rosen (D-NV) introduced H.R. 5121 to expand TRICARE Reserve Select to eligible federal employees. H.R. 5121 is the House counterpart to S. 1086 introduced by Senator Hatch in 2017. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) scored those pieces of legislation, and H.R. 5121 and S. 1086 increase direct spending by $241 million. However, it saves the Department of Defense (DOD) $1.5 billion in discretionary dollars that can be reinvested in much needed training and modernization of weapons systems. The most difficult obstacle in the fight is the increase to direct spending, because in order to pay for the $241 million price tag, Congressional rules stipulate that savings must come from other areas funded by direct spending. Therefore, the EANGUS National Office needs your help. Please go to the EANGUS National Office Website http://www.eangus.org/ navigate to the Legislative Action Center, contact your delegation. and ask that your elected officials co-sponsor and support H.R. 5121 and S. 1086.
