Key TSP Updates for 2026
New: Roth In-Plan Conversions Starting January 28
Beginning January 28, 2026, all TSP participants will have the option to convert money from their traditional (pre-tax) balance to their Roth (after-tax) balance.
Important: This is a taxable event. The amount you convert will be included in your taxable income for the year, and you must pay the resulting taxes from a separate source. It is highly recommended that you consult a qualified tax advisor before making a conversion.
Important: Roth Catch-Up Contribution Rule
For participants age 50 or older who earned more than $150,000 in wages from a TSP-eligible job last year, all catch-up contributions made this year will automatically be designated as Roth contributions by your payroll office.
EANMNG encourages all our members to utilize these free resources to stay informed and make the most of their TSP benefits.
