The New Mexico National Guard recently reached an important milestone by adding two new partners to its State Partnership Program (SPP) portfolio, expanding its international relationships beyond its longstanding partnership with Costa Rica.
In recent weeks, the New Mexico National Guard formally established new State Partnership Program agreements with the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles, strengthening cooperation in areas including security, disaster response, emergency management, leadership development, and professional military exchanges.
The partnership with Mauritius was formalized through an agreement between the New Mexico National Guard and the Mauritius Police Force. The partnership is expected to enhance collaboration in maritime security, disaster preparedness, emergency response, and professional development while building lasting people-to-people connections between both organizations.
The New Mexico National Guard also signed a State Partnership Program agreement with the Seychelles Defence Forces. This partnership will focus on security cooperation, disaster response, military readiness, leadership development, and institutional exchanges while supporting shared priorities throughout the Indian Ocean region.
These new partnerships complement New Mexico’s successful and enduring relationship with Costa Rica, further expanding opportunities for collaboration, mutual learning, and professional development.
Administered by the National Guard Bureau, the State Partnership Program builds lasting relationships between U.S. National Guard organizations and partner nations around the world. Through these partnerships, participating organizations exchange expertise, strengthen readiness, and foster cooperation in areas ranging from emergency management and humanitarian assistance to military leadership and security operations.
With Costa Rica, Mauritius, and Seychelles now part of New Mexico’s State Partnership Program network, the New Mexico National Guard continues to strengthen international relationships while promoting readiness, resilience, and regional stability around the globe.
