Sandia National Laboratories’ Wounded Warrior Career Development Program (WWCDP) has an opening for veterans who have been wounded in combat and meet eligibility criteria.

A position exists for a highly motivated and productive individual to join the Analytical Structural Dynamics Department as a structural dynamics modeling technologist. Our span of work encompasses the full spectrum of research, development and application in structural dynamics analysis. The position involves supporting solid model modifications, generating finite element meshes, running analyses, and documentation for a wide range of Sandia products. Current activities include shock and vibration analysis for weapons systems, wind/water turbines, and missile payloads. The position requires close teaming with analysts and Sandia designers.

The Wounded Warrior Career Development Program is a unique limited-term (1-3 years) career development employment opportunity that enables eligible veterans to acquire career-based skills at Sandia through training, mentoring, and real-world work experience while supporting mission success. Potential exists for conversion to regular full-time employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be a U.S. Military Veteran wounded in combat
* Have at least two years of introductory mechanical engineering course work
* Must be comfortable working with a team-based and collaborative approach towards shared goals
* Must be interested in furthering your education
* Be willing to mentor incoming wounded warriors to Sandia

Desired Qualifications:

* Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) solid model development and modification
* Programming experience with Matlab, C, C++, Java, or Python
* Knowledge of structural analysis, structural dynamics, vibration, finite element model creation
* Share experiences to improve understanding of combat theater and enhance connections with members of the workforce

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
